Meet Steph

Emotional resilience Educator, Motivational Speaker,

and Mom.

In May of 2017, I lost my 19 year old son to suicide. The trauma of that loss was a radical eye opener .

I got divorced and then began a spiritual journey of healing.  I dove into learning how to be a better parent and how to help hurting youth.  I quickly became aware of what I did and what I permitted that contributed to my sons deep lonliness and sadness.  Initially i thought I was to share with other parents everything that i did wrong and convince them not do what I did. I soon came to realize my passion was in helping the hurting youth. I wanted to bring young people like Dalton who lacked confidence and hope some tools to help them make it through hard times .  I  became fascinated by the power of the mind , how thoughts and words could change the structure of the brain (neuroplasticity). How grit was actually the biggest predictor of success.  I learned that Neuroplasticity and mindfulness were a proven way to reduce anxiety and depression and that they could even increase IQ.

My prayer is that by sharing what I have learned  that you will use these techniques to emerge stronger and more resilient. I pray that this information will fill you with a healthy confidence that boosts your belief that you are a gift to this world. Courageously commit to practicing these tools and watch your resilience grow. Your talents and skills are a blessing to others and they point to your purpose .

Trials will come but we must be determined that instead of crumbling, we reframe them as opportunities to become stronger. There will always be mean people in the world . The reality is that "Bully's" are likely being bullied ( maybe at home ). The anti- bully movement didn't work in schools . Statistics show that it actually made things worse for the victim and for school administrations. Research shows that focusing on building resilience in youth is the most effective way to reduce conflict.

It is in the "valleys" that living water is often collected. Most of us would rather skip the valleys and go from mountaintop to mountaintop but it is in the "valley" where we produce new growth.

In 2020 the COVID19 frenzy crushed my business  and transplanted my daughter and I from Southern California to Southwest Florida. We lived with my Mom for 4 years which was treasured time and an absolute blessing. Eden and I continued in therapy and growing in our relationship.  A couple years later I fell in love with the man of my dreams and in September of 2024 we were married .  Eden started college and has been blooming into a wise young woman.

I have been in the fitness industry for over 25 years as a nutritional consultant, group fitness instructor and personal trainer. My specialty has been in injury prevention and rehab using Neurokinetic Therapy . For years I enjoyed helping my clients prevent and recover from injuries. We worked together to increase their flexibility and strength. Having a strong healthy body is certainly beneficial but without a mind that is equally strong we are not able to live the abundant life for which we were created. In my son's case he was not able to live his life at all .  In 2017 I started a new business, Cultivate Life Body & Soul . The goal of this business was to educate others on all that I'd been learning about strengthening the mind through positive neuroplasticity .  The "soul" is said to be the mind , will and emotions.  My new focus became the emotional fitness of the soul .  I learned the science and read the studies. They inspired me to want to shout it from the rooftops but instead... I wrote a book. Now I plan to share the information in schools all over the world. My book Bro, You Got This is 10 chapters containing the most effective strategies to build resilience. These tools diminish anxiousness and replace it with actions that improve our brains and our future .
